Climate - weather in a specific place averaged over a period of time.

Tropical - can be split into equatorial (5° North - 5° South of Equator), tropical continental (5° - 15° North and 5° to 15° South) and hot desert (15° - 30° bands North and South) where the mean monthly temperature does not fall below 21°C.

Warm Temperate - (subtropical) split into Mediterranean (west coasts of continents between 30° - 40° North and South) and Eastern margin (south east and eastern Asia mainly monsoons)

Cool Temperate - continental (40° - 60° North of Equator) and Western margins (west coasts 40° - 60° North and South). In this climate 1 to 5 months of the year will be below 6°C.

Cold - (polar) subarctic regions 60° North - North America, Europe, Asia. Over 6 months of the year is below 6°C. Winters long and mean monthly temperature -30°C. Strong winds.

Arctic - Antarctica, Greenland, North Alaska, Canada, Russia have areas of
continuous permafrost. Bad winters with the sea freezing. Near the pole
there is constant frost.
