A cloud is formed by the condensation of the rising water vapour (see Precipitation) into small droplets of water.

Description

Cumulonimbus - Large, anvil-shaped thunder clouds

Cirrostratus - Thin, wispy clouds above Cumulonimbus

Cirrus - Thin 'mare's tail' clouds

Cirrocumulus - Small puffy clouds

Altostratus - Covers whole sky, grey/blue and appears before a storm

Altocumulus - Medium size puffy clouds

Stratocumulus - Wide and flat at the base and puffy on top

Stratus - grey covering the whole sky
