Rainbow
A combination of sun and rain can give an optical phenomenon of a rainbow. It is caused when the light from the sun hits the rain drops and is dispersed by refraction.

To see a rainbow in the sky you should have the sun behind you. Although each drop splits the white light into all its components. you will only see one colour from each one because of the angle. So the rain drops higher in the sky will show the red light while the lowest rain drops only show the violet. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet.
